How Hive is used today.

  • 01 Social

    Writers, photographers, video makers, and podcasters publish through Hive frontends. The post, the comment thread, the resteem, and the payout are all signed by the author's account and settled on-chain in the same block — no platform sitting between them.

  • 02 Economy

    Three gears run on the same chain — HBD for merchant payments, native rewards to creators through curation and posting, and DHF proposals that fund ideas worth shipping. Value moves between people, not through an intermediary.

  • 03 Gaming

    Players own cards, cities, plots, and items against their Hive account. Inventory travels between sessions, between frontends, and between games that share the same primitives.

  • 04 Communities

    A space where communities cooperate from existing platforms or build new ones, with a value layer moderated by the communities themselves. A community's rules travel with its members — not with the frontend that hosts them.

Stablecoin / HBD on Hive

A tokenized U.S. dollar, settled on-chain.

HBD is Hive's dollar-pegged token. Supply adjusts through on-chain conversion mechanisms — when the market price drifts from $1, the protocol contracts or expands HBD to bring it back. The peg is maintained by the protocol's design, not by a central custodian.

How HBD flows on Hive

Payments

HBD transfers settle in the same block as any Hive transaction. A merchant or another Hive user receives HBD directly — no processor in between.

Creator rewards

Payouts from curation and posting rewards can be denominated in HBD, so creators receive a dollar-denominated share of a post's earnings.

Funding ideas

DHF proposals — Hive's on-chain funding rounds — clear in HBD, giving teams a way to raise without leaving the network's settlement layer.
